Implode Recalled

Implode was supposed to be my war banner — five songs that proved I could survive and deliver. Many months later, I listen again using my acquired knowledge of the past 2 years, and all I hear is a reminder that microphones don’t lie. The guitars sound like dental drills, the drums like someone kicking a desk… let’s just say no one’s hiring me to record their demo any time soon.

And this is the portfolio? The proof I’m good enough to step into the industry? Yeah, right. Nothing says “hire me” like production that sounds like it was mixed inside a stinky wet sock.

So here I am, staring at my own creation and considering the unthinkable: pulling it back. Not because the songs aren’t real, but because the production is a liability. It doesn’t showcase skill — it showcases how much I still don’t know.

It’s not about pride. It’s math. If the work doesn’t hold up, then the portfolio collapses. And what good is a portfolio that whispers “still too much to learn” at full volume?

Maybe Implode’s fate was never to stand tall. Maybe its only purpose was to break in half and teach me why.

So, do I recall it? Or do I let it limp forever as a monument to half measures?

It’s going down.
